If jalapeño poppers and pigs in a blanket had a baby you would get these smoked jalapeño poppers pigs in a blanket! These cheese and bacon filled jalapenos, stuffed with a little smokie, wrapped in golden brown crescent dough, are hard to beat!
I'm all about a great appetizer and these little bites couldn't be any easier or more satisfying.
What makes the perfect appetizer?
For me, my favorite appetizers are budget friendly, have simple steps, and of course are delicious. This recipe is all of those things and needs to be served at your next party.
Using similar ingredients as my smoked atomic buffalo turds these jalapeno popper pigs are too easy and too good not to try. They can be made in under an hour and your guests will devour them until there are no more left.

Can I make these ahead of time?
You can prep all of the ingredients a day or two ahead and then place them onto your smoker when you are ready to go.

Can I make these in my oven?
Bake these in your oven at 350°F for 20-30 minutes or until the dough on the outside of the poppers are golden brown and cooked all the way through. Personally I use my smoker because I love the way the smoke enhances the flavor of this recipe.
This recipe a lot like my other ones can be made in an oven. A smoker is just another heat source and acts like an oven with the exception of the smoke.
Ingredients you will need:
Fresh jalapenos
Cream cheese
Cheddar cheese
Little smokies (cocktail wieners)
Crescent roll dough
Your favorite BBQ Seasoning (Here's mine!)
Crispy bacon bits

How to make smoked jalapeño poppers pigs in a blanket.
Prepare the jalapenos
Prep the jalapeño peppers by cutting a ½ inch of the top, removing the stem, and a ½ inch from the bottom. Then cut them length wise and remove the seeds.

Make the cream cheese mixture
In a medium bowl combine cream cheese, crispy bacon bits, shredded cheddar cheese and bbq seasoning. You can use my homemade bbq seasoning or I highly recommend my All Night blend. Mix everything together to incorporate and move to filling each slice of jalapeno.

Putting it all together.
You can use a piping bag but a spoon will do just as fine. Take a scoop of the popper filling and place about a tablespoon into each jalapeno piece. Next, place a little smokie into the filling and push it into the center.

Then take a piece of crescent roll, cut it half and wrap each filled jalapeno. Brush on some melted butter or egg wash on the crescent rolls and get cooking!

Cooking the jalapenos poppers pig in a blanket.
I smoke my poppers because I like the flavor a little better than the oven but doing them in your oven works great!
If using a smoker, start at 225°F for 30 minutes and then increase the temperature to 350°F for another 20-30 minutes.

In the oven bake them at 350°f for 20-30 minutes. You know they are done when the dough has puffed up, become golden brown and the jalapenos have softened some.

These are the ultimate party appetizer and I always break these out for game day! With the super bowl coming up, they are a must make.
Storing and reheating.
Store the jalapenos popper pigs in a blanket in an shallow airtight container for up to 5 days in the refrigerator. To reheat, place them in your microwave on high for 30 seconds or to crisp them up use an air fryer or your oven works at 350°f for 3-5 minutes.

Variations.
Make them spicer
For a spicy twist try adding some buffalo sauce to your filling mixture or put some of the seeds back in from the jalapenos.
Change the filling
You can change the filling by adding different types of cheeses, seasoning, or extra ingredients such as diced chicken or onion.
Add some texture
Add texture to the tops of the pig poppers with some flaky salt, extra bbq seasoning, everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds.

Finally made these last night. Had 4 jalapeños but no smokies so I made up a mixture of refried beans and cheesy chili with chili powder. Used a full crescent to cover each and a half piece of bacon to cover each. Sprayed with some liquid smoke, oven @ 350. WOW! Definitely for Super Bowl!
Jordan Hanger says
That sounds amazing Tom! Glad they worked out.
