- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 8 ozs of softened cream cheese
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1.5 tablespoons of salt, pepper, and garlic powder blend
- 1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning
- 1.5 cups of marinara or pizza sauce
- 3 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 pound of ground sausage
- 1/2 cup of mini pepperonis
Instructions
- Cook the ground sausage until browned in a pan on medium heat with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Season the sausage with 2 teaspoons of salt, pepper, and garlic powder along with 1 tablespoon of dried Italian seasoning. Drain the excess grease and set aside.
- Mix together 8 ozs of softened cream cheese, 1/4 cup of sour cream and the remaining salt, pepper and garlic powder.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture to the bottom of a 10 inch cast iron pan, then add a layer of the ground sausage.
- Then add 1.5 cups of marinara sauce, another layer of sausage and 1.5 cups of mozzarella cheese. Finish by topping with the remaining sausage, 1/2 cup of mini pepperonis and the remaining mozzarella cheese.
- Bake the pizza dip in your oven at 350°F for 30 minutes until the cheese is melted and the edges are bubbling. You can also smoke the dip at the same temperature or start lower and increase the heat for more smokey flavor.
