Ingredients
Scale
- 1 28oz can of quality tomatoes
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup pineapple juice
- 1/4 cup yellow mustard
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 2 tablespoons black pepper
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 4 teaspoons garlic powder
- 4 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
Instructions
- In a blender, combine the tomatoes, brown sugar and honey. Then, blend until smooth.
- Add the blender mixture to a medium saucepan, over medium heat. Add the apple cider vinegar, pineapple juice, Worcestershire sauce and yellow mustard. Stir well to combine.
- Then add the spices and bring everything to a simmer. Once at a simmer, reduce the heat to medium low and gently cook the sauce for 30-45 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.
- Taste the sauce as it reduces and thickens. Adjust the seasoning as desired.
- Once the sauce has thickened and the flavors are balanced, remove it from the heat and let it cool to room temperature.
- Then transfer the sauce into an airtight container such as a mason jar or plastic bottle, with a tight sealing lid. The sauce is now ready to use.
- Store the sauce in the refrigerator where it will keep for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 3 months.
