Ingredients

  • 2 (21-ounce) cans cherry pie filling
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 1 (15.25-ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, sliced into thin pats

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. In a skillet, combine the cherry pie filling, brown sugar, and bourbon until well mixed.
  2. Spread the mixture into an even layer and sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the cherries. Do not stir.
  3. Arrange pats of butter evenly over the cake mix, covering as much of the surface as possible.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cherry filling is bubbling around the edges.
